Van Buren Marina Destroyed By Flooding

The Wildcat Marina in Van Buren has not only been closed due to the rise of the Arkansas River, but has been destroyed.  According to Gabe Draper, Harbormaster, the marina itself has moved over 100 feet down river and approximately 60 feet back onto the banks.  He said "So whenever the water goes down, all of the damage is just going to be that much worse."

Draper said there is insurance, but he still doesn't have a home.  Due to no power or water, it is non-livable.  According to Draper, it will take a minimum of a year to re-build the mar- ina.  He has been Harbormaster for a little over a year.
