City Administrator Requested Special Session

After the regular meeting of the Ft. Smith Board of Directors on July 7, the Board went into executive session regarding a "performance evaluation" of City Administrator, Ray Gosack.  According to Gosack, he requested the session.  He provided the Board information prior to the regular evaluation, which is scheduled for July 21.

The last review Gosack had was requested by Directors Keith Lau and George Catsavis, in November of last year, after which Mayor Sandy Sanders noted "continued performance improvement as our expectation".  Gosack was hired as Deputy City Administrator in 1999.  He was promoted in January 2011 to City Administrator, after the firing of former admini- strator Dennis Kelly in November of 2010.

An ordinance was also voted on at the Board's meeting regarding two condemned houses.  The Directors voted in favor of the ordinance ordering the owners to demolish the homes, described as dilapidated, within 30 days.  One burned home, along with two outbuildings, is located at 608 N. 16th Street.  The other is at 1732 N. 12th Street.  The City can have them destroyed at the expense of the owners after the 30 days are up.
