City Of Ozark Approved Marina

At an Ozark City Council meeting Monday, the construction of a marina was approved.  The City plans to locate it in the Webb City area, on the south side of the Arkansas River near the dam.  The boat dock will contain 100 slips.

Controversy has risen because of the vote.  Some feel that the marina will increase traffic, which in return, will create noise.  Mayor Tommy McNutt said the marina will bring more jobs and revenue to the community.

Money from a $1.4 million grant will be used to fund the project.  Part of the grant would also go towards building three to seven cabins and a convenience store.  Construction is to begin in early October, the Mayor said.
