Early Morning Fire At Van Buren Restaurant

An early morning fire damaged C & C Catfish in Van Buren Friday.  At approximately 2:45 a.m., someone driving past the business saw the fire and reported it.  The fire was con- tained to the porch outside and was extinguished by 4:30 a.m., Fire Prevention Officer Marvin Stout said.  He also said the inside of the restaurant sustained some water and smoke damage.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Arkansas Secretary of State records show C & C Catfish is owned by Pyle & Reding Inc., which was incorporated by William & Beverly Pyle and Brian & Alicson Reding.  Alicson Red- ing, former Cedarville treasurer who was accused of stealing almost $300,000 from the City of Cedarville, is now serving a twenty-year probation sentence.  Reding was also ordered to pay $324,634 restitution.
