Retaining Wall Collapses At Ft. Smith Pavilion

Early Wednesday morning, heavy rains caused a retaining wall to collapse at the Ft. Smith Pavilion.  Old Navy, Shoe Carnival and Sports Clips were all flooded because of this.  The store owners were contacted by the property managers.  One of the property manager's trucks was at the loading dock at the time of the collapse.  That truck is expected to be totaled.

The owners of the Shoe Carnival said that the water was so high, that they couldn't even open their back door.  The flooding damage was to be surveyed by an emergency response team from Tulsa.

This is the second time in five years that a retaining wall has collapsed after a heavy a- mount of rainfall, according to property managers.  They said this particular collapse was much worse than the first one.  It is not clear as to when the businesses will be back open.
