On September 4, a prayer meeting was held at the Ft. Smith Police Department. It was organized by Mike Nichols, along with several area church leaders. There were approximat- ely 100 people in attendance including Ft. Smith Police Officers, Police Chief Kevin Lindsey and Captain Levi Risely, along with Sebastian County Sheriff's Deputies.
Nichols said "We need this to show that there are more supporters of our law enforcement, than those against them. We need unity and not division and we want that for this city." At noon on the same day, a prayer meeting took place at the Van Buren Police Department.
