The Ft. Smith Police Department, sanitation department, over 200 volunteers and great weather all contributed to the success of the first Steel Horse Motorcycle Rally, according to Dennis Snow, rally president. Calculation techniques and concepts were used to figure the economic impact that the event had on the City of Ft. Smith.
According to the Ft. Smith Convention & Visitor's Bureau, there was an estimated economic impact of $4.2 million. The motorcycle rally had approximately 25,000 people attend during the two days that it was going on. There were between 8,000 and 10,000 bikers that came. Snow said there are plans to have more vendors and entertainment at next year's festivi- ties.
