On June 24, 2014 Sylvester kidnapped a 54 year-old Van Buren woman at gun-point in the Staples parking lot located in the 5700 block of Rogers Ave. The suspect drove her to Ash- down, stopping at an EZ Mart for gas, at which time he sexually assaulted her. She was able to escape while still at the station, yelling for someone to call 911. Sylvester drove off, but was captured after a short pursuit.
The three life sentences are to run consecutively.
