Councilman Loses Battle With Cancer

James Alfred Burgess III, a Greenwood City Councilman, died Monday, May 11.  54 year-old Burgess, known as Trey, lost his second battle with brain cancer.  In November he ran for the Ward 1, Position 1 council seat, unopposed.  However, he was never able to take part in any of the council meetings due to his health.

Greenwood Mayor Doug Kinslow said Burgess was a "super nice guy".  He also said Burgess was a lot like his dad, Dr. James Burgess, Jr.
