A law was passed by Arkansas legislators in 2011 requiring fluoridation of water systems that serve 5,000 customers or more. This was to be done when funding became available. The City of Greenwood, having almost 9,000 water customers, had comply with that law. To cover startup costs, the City received a $124,000 grant from Delta Dental of Arkansas Foun- dation.
The State Health Department inspected the treatment plant July 9th. A date of July 20th has been set by the City to begin the process of fluoridating its drinking water. Due to having to wait on a prefabricated building in which the equipment would be housed, they didn't make their original date of April 1st.
