Some of the Ft. Smith Board of Directors members are the subject of a private investigation started by the Fraternal Order of Police. According to Matthew Holloway, FOP President, there are concerns that the chapter has regarding decisions that are being made by the City Directors concerning the cuts to pensions. Holloway said the FOP was concerned when their retirement took a 10% cut. Now, there is talk about doing a 5% pay cut.
He said "Millions and millions of dollars are being decided and we're going to check into their backgrounds to see if they're capable of running their businesses in their own lives, let alone the city's life."
Holloway would not say which directors are under investigations, but said it is not all of them. He also said the public would be informed if any problems were discovered.
