At a meeting of the Ft. Chaffee Redevelopment Authority, the Board of Trustees considered $160,000 "a fair offer" for ten acres off Wells Lake Road. Before approving the sale, how- ever, there was a discussion regarding who should pay the expense of having water and se- wer lines extended. According to Ivy Owen, FCRA Director, the trust first began covering the cost to help draw sales.
The ten acres will be used for single-family development. The extension of sewer service is included in the sale. It will cost the FCRA $15-$20,000. In the future, it is possible that the cost of utilities will be part of the package when land is sold.
