Eldridge Stepping Down From Office

According to a news release, effective August 21 U. S. Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas, Conner Eldridge, will step down from his position.  At that time, Eldridge's First Assistant U. S. Attorney, Kenneth Elser, will serve as acting U. S. Attorney.

Crimes that have an effect on children were prioritized during his tenure.  Most recently Eldridge started and announced the "A-Chance" program.  The program directly addresses the goal of mitigating negative impacts on children exposed to violence and trauma by identifying children that have come into contact with law enforcement and ensuring that school personnel are aware of that fact.  "A-Chance" stands for Arkansas Cultivating Healthy Attitudes and Nurturing Children to Excel.  It will begin in thirteen schools in six counties in the Western District of Arkansas, including Crawford and Sebastian.
