Humane Society May Be Forced To Close

Due to decreasing finances, the Sebastian County Human Society faces  a real possibility of closing.  According to the Humane Society Board Secretary, Tonya Rogers, the shelter will close within a few months if the cash flow continues to decline.  She said to cover all the expenses, it costs them $60,000 every month.  As of right now, the Society has $3,000 in the bank.

They will have to find a place for all of the animals to go if the facility does close.  Rogers said no animal will be put down to make more room.  There are currently more than 400 animals there.  People are encouraged to go to the Humane Society and look before purchas- ing an expensive designer pet.  Beds, food and other pet items are accepted, as well as monetary donations.
