Upon hearing of the Sebastian County Humane Society's financial crisis, Ft. Smith residents are jumping in to help. Ella Harmon, 8, along with family and friends, set up a lemonade stand Saturday, raising more than $1200. They also held a bake sale on Sunday. Ella said for her birthday, she doesn't want presents. Instead she wants people to donate to the animals.
A local boutique owner, Amanda Langley, is also wanting to help. She is organizing a 5K to be held at 8 a.m. Saturday, August 29 at Wells Lake. There is a registration fee of $30, which includes a T-shirt. Langley is asking that people bring donations of dog and cat food or other pet items.
