On August 5, Adam Eugene Lane of Ft. Smith was given a 70-year prison sentence. Lane, 28, was classified as a habitual offender by the prosecution. He was convicted of simulta- neous gun and drug possession charges. Before those charges, he had six prior felonies.
According to Dan Shue, Sebastian County Prosecuting Attorney, tough sentences have traditionally been given to habitual criminals by Sebastian County juries. Among Lane's crimes was the shooting of an Arkoma man in the stomach at D&J Auto Sales on Towson Avenue in December of 2012.
