Pump Station Project Now Operational

A Ft. Smith pump station project that began in early 2013 is now operational along with storage tanks that have a capacity of 5 million gallons.  The system is located in the southern part of the city at the intersection of Jenny Lind & Zero Street.

The tanks temporarily store peak sewer flows during rains, after which the flows are re- leased back into the wastewater treatment plants.  According to Steve Parke, Utilities Director, it is being used and is performing as designed.
