Wildlife Officer To Be Honored

At the annual banquet of the Arkansas Game & Fish Foundation on August 21, Joel Campora will be inducted into the Arkansas Outdoor Hall of Fame, posthumously.  Campora, an AGFC Wildlife Officer First Class, was killed along with the late Cody Carpenter, Scott County Sher- iff and three others, during the May flooding in Scott County in 2013.

Campora, 32 and Carpenter died in the line of duty while trying to rescue Vivian Sue Reimer and Regina Kay Shearn, both of Y City, who also lost their lives.  As a result of the flooding, Cathy Ann Holder of Dallas also lost her life.

Originally from Mena, Campora became a wildlife officer in 2007.  He was a member of the Game & Fish Commission's Dive Team and its Disaster Response Team.  Campora is survived by his wife, Rebecca and their two daughters.
