Raymond "Ray" E. Caruthers, Jr., former Barling City Administrator, past away this week. Caruthers, 79, retired from his position in January of 2013 after serving approximately ten years. Current City Administrator for Barling, Mike Tanner, said in a prepared statement "He was an excellent engineer and communicator and will be greatly missed by the City of Barling."
Caruthers died at his home in Ft. Smith Tuesday. Public viewing will be at Edwards Funeral Home located at 201 N. 12th St. Friday from 5-7 p.m. Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church at 116 N. 12th St.
