Another tragedy has taken place on Beaver Lake. This time it was a man being killed by a lightening strike over the weekend. Officials said the incident took place Saturday near Indian Creek a little after 4 p.m. 22 year-old Connor D. Clayman of Springfield was on a fishing tour with a guide and his wife. The boat was heading back to Lost Bridge Marina when it was hit by lightening.
Clayman was given CPR multiple times before emergency crews arrived, according to eye- witnesses. He was taken to Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville, where he later died.
The fishing guide, who has been identified by authorities as Joseph Farkas of Missouri, was arrested on the scene after authorities discovered he had prior warrants. They said the a- rrest was not connected with the lightening strike incident. According to jail records, Far- kas, 57, had charges dating back to July 14, 2013 which included boat collision or accident and operating a motorboat while intoxicated.
There have been three other deaths in 2015 on Beaver Lake. Two were drownings and the other was as recent as last week when a 14 year-old girl was killed in a Jet Ski collision.
