Update: Trooper In I-49 Shooting Identified

The Arkansas State Trooper involved in the shooting incident that took place on Interstate 49 has been identified.  He is Trooper Josh Elmore, 27.  On Monday at approximately 6 a.m., Elmore confronted Gil Antonio Rameriz-Lemus as he was walking south along I-49  near Mountainburg.

Rameriz-Lemus refused to obey commands and began making threatening motions toward Elmore, who then shot the suspect with his taiser.  However, Rameriz-Lemus wouldn't stop, at which time the trooper fired three shots.  The suspect is recovering in the hospital.  El- more is on administrative leave, with pay, while an investigation is being conducted.
