31 year-old Nathan Scott of Van Buren was seriously injured Friday afternoon in a crash. The accident took place on U. S. 271 approximately three miles west of Pocola around 3.42 p.m. Scott was traveling west, driving a 2005 Honda motorcycle when Marvail Lewis of Spiro, traveling south on McGinnis Lane, was attempting to cross the highway, but failed to stop at a stop sign. The rear driver's side of Lewis' 1992 Chevrolet was struck by Scott.
According to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, Scott was then thrown approximately six feet by the collision. He is in serious condition in Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was not wearing a helmet.
Lewis, 74, was treated and released at Sparks Regional Medical Center. The report states he was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
