Mercy Announced Over 300 Jobs Cut

It has been announced that between 300-350 positions are being cut this week by Mercy across four states.  It is not known at this time how many of those will be in the Ft. Smith area.  According to a news release, most of the positions are "leadership roles".

There are approximately 2,500 of the leadership positions, with a total of almost 40,000 workers.  Mercy is stating the eliminations are due to the lack of Medicaid expansion in most of the states they serve and the Affordable Care Act.
