Texas Murder Suspect Apprehended In Ft. Smith

Tilton J. Mapps, a Texas murder suspect, was taken into custody Monday afternoon in Ft. Smith by the U. S. Marshals Service.  It was learned by authorities that Mapps had fled Hopkins County in Texas and was hiding in Ft. Smith.  He was discovered in a vehicle on 18th Street.

Mapps girlfriend, who is un-named, was also taken into custody on suspicion of hindering apprehension of a known felon.  Both were booked into the Sebastian County Detention Center and are expected to be extradited back to Texas.
